Japanese Red Selvedge Cotton Denim Fabric - Washed - Indigo - 12oz

This denim is made on a slow weaving 1950's Toyoda shuttle loom which creates a dense and durable denim. On a shuttle loom the weft thread is carried in a shuttle which is a wooden case. Unlike high-speed modern looms, shuttle looms work slowly. It does not put much tension on the thread passing the weft thread back and forth. This creates a very tight , dense weave making the fabric stronger. The yarn is a rich indigo blue which is dyed using the rope dyeing method. This is a revolutionary dyeing method that was introduced to Japan in the 1960's and seems to have completely overturned previous dyeing methods. The method involves grouping threads into ropes and dyeing each rope individually. The threads are dyed through repeated oxidation and reduction, from yellow to green, and then from green to navy blue. A distinctive feature of this dyeing method is that the dye does not reach the core of the threads. This results in the fading and creases that are characteristic of jeans. This denim has gone through one wash at the mill.

We prepare orders on the same day that they are placed if they are placed on our opening days if not they will be prepared the following open day.

Orders are sent via An Post (Standard Postal Services from Ireland) or with DHL Courier within Ireland.

Post orders are dispatched the same day if orders are placed before 3.00 pm Monday to Friday. You will get a notification saying Shipped when it has been posted.

Within Ireland we use standard post not registered (tracked) post unless the weight is over 2kg. Please select the DHL option if you need a tracking number.

An Post will deliver your package so you should expect it between 9 a.m– 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.

If you’re not there when they call, they’ll leave information with details on how to pick it up.

They usually deliver within 2 days. This might take longer during busy periods. 

For countries outside Ireland we will send you the tracking number. The delivery times will vary, please contact us for time estimates.

Orders going by DHL courier are collected by the courier the same day if the order is placed before 11.00 am Monday to Friday. You will receive a notification from the courier with an estimated delivery. Once they collect the order from us they usually deliver it the next working day.

 

We cannot issue refunds for fabric that has been cut to measure from the roll. However, if, in spite of our meticulous quality checks, you need to return fabric because it is flawed, we will issue a full refund including shipping charges. This is on condition that the fabric is returned within 14 days and that it has not been cut into. We can refund Haberdashery if you have changed your mind as long as it has not been cut to measure from a roll. It has to be returned to us in the same new condition. This refund does not include postage.
